What Makes a Window Energy Efficient?

Premium Vinyl Windows and Doors

The premium vinyl used in our windows is an excellent insulator and offers low conductivity. Its thermal properties are far superior to aluminum, steel and stainless steel. This means there is very low temperature transfer into or out of your home, helping keep you comfortable all year long.

At Simonton, we understand that energy efficient windows and doors are more important than ever to homeowners. That’s why we are continuously looking for ways to make our windows and doors as thermally efficient as possible. From the materials we use and the glass packages we offer to our dedication as an ENERGY STAR partner, we’ve got you covered when it comes to energy efficiency. Let’s take a look at what Simonton does to make our windows energy efficient.

Low E Glass Coating

Simonton windows and doors are available with ProSolar® Low E glass. A transparent metallic oxide coating is applied to the glass surface that allows short-wave energy to pass through but reflects long-wave infrared energy for greater thermal efficiency. This helps heat to not be transferred through the window and door.

For advanced Low E protection, Simonton offers ProSolar® Shade. This spectrally selective glass blocks damaging UV rays while allowing desirable light into the home, providing the ultimate in solar heat control, visibility and energy savings.

I.G. Unit Filled with Argon Gas The space inside an insulating glass unit—between the glass panes—may be filled with Argon gas, an odorless, non-toxic gas that is six times denser than air. With the added density of the gas, temperature transfer through the insulating glass unit is greatly reduced. In some areas of the country, we offer Krypton gas as an option. Krypton gas is even denser than Argon gas which further maximizes energy efficiency and reduced temperature transfer. Which can translate in to lower utility bills. https://www.simonton.com/sites/Simonton/Files/Simonton_Glass_Package_Brochure.pdf
